Co-curricular

At Monte, co-curricular activities are integral to a holistic education. A variety of activities encourages students to discover and develop their talents, skills and interests. Sport and music programs, social justice groups, debating, drama and many more clubs help students to become active and constructive members of society.

The Monte sporting philosophy is ‘Sport for All’. Many sports are offered to ensure that most interests can be catered for.

Sports currently available include: aerobics, athletics, basketball, cricket, cross country, dance, fencing, hockey, netball, soccer, softball, swimming, Tae Kwon Do, tennis, touch football water polo and yoga. Teams enter weekly competitions in many of these sports. Monte also participates in The Catholic Girls Secondary Schools Sports Association competitions (CGSSSA), the Independent Girls Schools Sports Association competitions (IGSSA) and carnivals with considerable success.

Performing Arts are an essential part of life at Monte. The Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, College Orchestra, College Choir and the Monte Singers, as well as rock bands and small ensembles groups provide girls with the opportunity to explore their talents in a multitude of musical styles. The Music Academy offers individual tuition in a wide variety of instruments. Drama evenings and House Plays are presented each year, providing students with the chance to explore musical, acting and production skills in our professionally equipped hall.

Girls are encouraged to live out the Mercy values through participation in social justice groups, including the Mercy Action Group. A co-ordinated Community Service Program for students in Year 9-12 offers girls a wealth of experience helping others in the wider society and also within the College.

Leadership and personal challenge opportunities can be pursued through activities such as

  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
  • Debating
  • Performing Arts
