Global Citizens Immersion Blog

Guard of honour to farewell Sr Maureen McGuirk RSM AM


Over 1200 students, teachers, Alumni and community formed a guard of honour down Miller St from St Mary’s Church, in a tribute to Sr. Maureen McGuirk RSM AM who passed away on 30 September, 2016.


Principal, Nicole Christensen, and School Captain, Kate McNamara led the funeral procession for one final pass around the College’s Circular Drive.


Sr Maureen McGuirk was an inspiring, compassionate, scholarly Mercy woman. During her extraordinary 21 years of service as Principal of Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College, Sr Maureen was known for the deep and meaningful commitment she had to the education of young women.


“Maureen entrusted all to God and offered her life to the spiritual and corporeal works of Mercy, bringing life and love to all those she encountered.” Sr Patricia Shoveller RSM



Bursary Blue Ribbon Appeal Record Result

On August 12 Monte's Bursary Blue Ribbon Rugby Lunch took fundraising to new heights, helping to raise an extraordinary $250,000 for the Bursary Appeal.

Monte Sport for All - #ITSOK2PLAY


At Monte, we believe that sport should be open to all. The impact of sport is profound. It encourages health, fitness, inclusivity, building relationships and personal growth.

Although sport is voluntary at Monte, we encourage all students to get involved in one of our sports programs and to strive for their best. Monte’s 2016 campaign - #ITSOK2PLAY promotes inclusivity and participation in sport.



Monte Jumping 4 Kids in Immigration Detention


Children don't belong in immigration detention. They never did. We must ensure that this never happens again. On Thursday 29 October the students and staff of Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College North Sydney added their voice to the ‘Jump Up & Down 4 Kids’ campaign in support of removing children from immigration detention.

Children suffer significant harm from being in detention. Jump up & down for kids and share this message!



The Heart of Mercy

This video features inspiring words from the extraordinary Sisters of Mercy North Sydney on what Mercy means to them. "Mercy is about life and love, about our prayer and faith. It really gets to the heart of the matter. Today, in the past, and especially into the future", Sr Anna Koeneman RSM.




Monte Mercy Day and Celebration Week 2015

Monte celebrates Mercy Day. Through our liturgical theme of "Welcoming the Stranger" we draw attention to the plight of asylum seekers and refugees. The Catherine McAuley Awards presented on Mercy Day acknowledge those within our community who, through their actions, truly are living the Mercy values. We also celebrate and farewell the Year 12 Class of 2015.



Design Week Showcase 2015

This video showcases beautiful, creative and sustainable design works from the Monte Sant’ Angelo Design Week 2015. Featuring a selection of original technical and fashion design projects from Years 7-11 and Year 12 major works. The design works include; furniture, lighting, jewellery, environmental pieces, street wear, as well as stunning bridal and evening gowns.



Record $165,000 raised at Monte's 10th Bursary Rugby Lunch

On 7 August 2015, a record gathering of over 680 community and some of Australia's finest rugby legends helped Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College raise a record $165,000 for the Monte Bursary Program. 



Monte Japan Music Tour
