Drama

In Drama Club, students are engaged in a variety of Drama activities to assist in the development of collaboration skills, creativity, leadership and organisational skills, discipline and the ability to adapt to situations in a safe and enjoyable environment. The girls will learn about improvisation, group work, performance, vocal work and present cabaret-style presentations for their peers.
The cost will be included in College fees. Contact the Performing Arts Department for further information.
TheatreSports is held on Mondays in Terms 1 and 2 from 3.30pm-4.30pm.
Students work in teams of three or four to devise instant characters and settings and then improvise a short scene, based on a variety of scenarios. TheatreSports begins with easy improvisational exercises, slowly becoming more demanding as individual confidence and teamwork skills develop.
Beginning midway through Term 1, Intermediate and Senior teams will work towards participating in the inter-school state knockout competition early in Term 2. Intermediate and Senior Theatresports is open to all girls in Years 9-12.
In Film Club, students will learn film-making skills including advanced camera skills, lighting, digital effects, editing and sound shaping. The Club will start by making music videos and then students will be given the opportunity to create a short film for Monte's Shortcuts Festival and possible entry in external competitions.
The cost will be included in College fees. Please contact the Performing Arts department for further information.
Each year, Monte holds a short film competition, which is open to all students in Years 7-12. Each film must be between 4-6 minutes in length, must be original and be based on the theme for the year. For non-elective Drama students, films will need to be submitted to the Performing Arts Department before the end of Term 3. Drama students will be given their due date by their teacher. Films will be shortlisted and the best in each category will be selected for entry into the finals to be shown at the Shortcuts Festival in October.
