Reaffirming our values and celebrating 150 years of Mercy education

Introducing our
Redesigned Uniform

We are thrilled to share with you that after over 40 years, Monte Sant’ Angelo is all set to unveil a brand-new uniform in preparation for the momentous Sesquicentenary celebration of girl’s education in 2025.

We have long identified a need to improve the wearability of the student uniform and reinvigorate the design for a modern world. Extensive consultation with students, parents and staff reaffirmed this need and provided an opportunity to redesign the Monte uniform to ensure it was fit-for-purpose for our students. We have proudly partnered with prominent Australian designer Jonathan Ward to bring the new uniform to life.

This marks a significant milestone in the College’s history, and we are confident that our students will take immense pride in donning the new uniform for many years to come.

Modernising our uniform

Our innovative new uniform collection reimagines what it means to be a ‘Monte’ student by blending the College’s heritage with a contemporary world design, while enhancing functionality.

Comfort and confidence

Working closely with the designer, we prioritised five core aspects: quality, comfort, wearability, trans-seasonality, affordability and variety.

The uniform incorporates advanced material technology used widely in the fashion industry and offers core and optional pieces for layering, catering to students’ individuality and inclusivity.

We are confident that this design will empower students, providing comfort and confidence to excel in their studies and physical activities on campus.

Our new uniform collection

We are delighted to reintroduce ‘Mary’s Mantle Blue’ – which was retrieved from the College archives and symbolises the College’s proud Mercy legacy – as the signature base colour for the new uniform.

Versatile and long-lasting

The collection features a new signature double-breasted trench coat, available to Years 11 and 12 students with lining that features the Mercy Cross, a new blazer with crested buttons and garments made using wool blend knitwear.

The pieces have been designed to provide longer wearability as students grow, as well as versatility so students can go from lunchtime activity to the classroom comfortably without having to change.

We have endeavoured to design the new collection to be cost-effective for families while maintaining high-quality standards. Each item is priced comparably to the current uniform, ensuring a worthwhile investment.

Our transition towards 2025

The new uniform will be available for purchase from Term 4, 2023, and the transition period will conclude in early 2025.
