ENSURING OUR FUTURE

About the Foundation

The Monte Foundation was established in 1999 to support the College Board and the Principal to develop and maintain excellence in education, facilities and community services at Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College. The Foundation is a public company limited by guarantee.

The broad objective of the Foundation is to anticipate and provide for the funding needs of the College over and above what is provided by school fees and government funding. This includes raising funds to: provide needs-based bursaries to students and families in financial distress; develop a responsible bursary program to attract and support diversity and inclusivity; and to provide capital to support projects that will enhance and extend the facilities of the College.

The Foundation supports the progression of the College’s vision to rigorously pursue opportunities that champion female achievement and to support students to realise a profound understanding of the inherent dignity, parity and rights of all people. The Foundation facilitates philanthropic support through structured fundraising priorities and whole community events which include past and current parents, Alumni, benefactors and friends to foster long-lasting engagement with the College.

The Foundation is governed by a committee which reports to the College Board. All donations to the Foundation are gratefully received and donations to the Scholarship and Bursary Fund and Building Trust have tax-deductible gift recipient status (DGR).

Building on a legacy.

It is our goal to build on the legacy of those who have gone before us.
In the words of Catherine McAuley RSM,

“You should remember that not to advance is to go back.”

Bursary Blue Ribbon Appeal

Annual Giving

The Bursary Blue Ribbon Appeal at Monte ensures that young women in our community are directly supported when it counts. We ask that all members of the Monte community give a yearly tax-deductible gift at a level they are comfortable with. The College relies on the philanthropic support of past and current parents, Alumni and friends to fund bursary places.

Please contact the Head of Foundation if you would like further information on how you can support bursaries at Monte.

Providing for life-changing opportunities

Monte has been educating and caring for young women for nearly 150 years and continues a tradition of excellence in Catholic education in the way of its founders, the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney.

The annual Bursary Blue Ribbon Appeal, launched in May each year, was established to care for young women whose families are experiencing extraordinary personal and financial hardship so they can continue or access a Mercy education.

Thanks to the generosity of past donors and bursary recipients, the College has been able to maintain a sustainable bursary program since 2009, affording life-changing opportunities to over 160 young Monte women.

Maintaining our environment

Building Fund

Our facilities must be constantly maintained and developed to meet the changing educational needs of our students and the College is extremely grateful for the generous support it receives from the community to the Building Fund.

Voluntary building fund contribution

Contributions to the Building Fund allow for improvements and maintenance of current buildings and facilities not covered by school fees.

The College encourages the parent community to support this program with a tax-deductible voluntary donation. Contributions can be made through regular tuition fee statements.

Capital campaign history

The beautiful campus that students enjoy today is due to the generosity of current and past parents, Alumni and friends of Monte.

Their significant contributions to the Foundation have helped to provide the following world-class facilities: the McQuoin Centre, opened in 2002; Catherine McAuley Place, a purpose-built centre of learning for Year 7, opened in 2007; the O’Regan Arts and Cultural Common, opened in 2014; and Scientia Terrace, Sports, Innovation, Science, Social Justice and Enterprise facility, opened in 2023.

Creating impact

Gift in Will Program

Leaving a Gift in Will is a meaningful way to honour your past and leave behind a lasting impact.

Shaping lives into the future

If you are considering leaving a Gift in Will, you may want to take some time to reflect on the significance of your Mercy education and how it has shaped your life.

You may also choose to associate your gift with a particular Mercy value, social justice cause or capital works project.

For further information or to discuss Gift in Will options, please contact Flynn McDermott, Director Development and Community Relations.
