The College celebrates the final chapter for the Year 12 Class of 2016 with the release of the IB Diploma results.

Once again, a Monte student has achieved the highest possible mark in the world. We are thrilled that Madeleine McDonald has scored a mark of 45, translating to a perfect ATAR of 99.95. Two other students, Ainslie Scott and Alyssia Ellwood, were very close, achieving impressive ATARs of 99.85.

Madeleine McDonald: 2016 IB Diploma Dux and Perfect IB score of 45

All 62 IB Diploma students achieved the required minimum of 24 points or above, with the vast majority considerably exceeding those minimum requirements.  We celebrate these outstanding results and particularly acknowledge those girls who achieved Distinction level results (ie scores of +40).  Joining  Madeleine, Alyssa and Ainslie were: Johanna Biddle, Georgia Carlaw, Ailish Doherty, Katrina Milliner, Lena Mouatt, Julia Marks and Grace Morahan.  73% of the IB Diploma cohort achieved ATARs exceeding 90.

As part of the IB Diploma, students are required to complete an Extended Research Essay.  The girls performed admirably in this highly challenging academic task, presenting superb analyses in English Literature, Economics, Environmental Systems and Societies, History, Psychology, World Studies, Sports Exercise and Science, Mathematics, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts.

IB Diploma students are required to complete a balanced program, incorporating creativity, activity and service in conjunction with academic requirements.  All 62 students embraced this aspect and generally exceeded expectations.

High HSC Achiever: Nadine Mattini

The HSC class of 2016 is congratulated on achieving fine results, demonstrating excellence in many areas.  Of the Year 12 Graduating cohort of 183 students, 132 girls successfully completed studies towards the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) and 62 students sat for the November IB Diploma examinations.

We celebrate the results of all HSC students and particularly acknowledge the following students who have achieved the status of HSC All-Rounder, having achieved Band 6 in 10 or more units:

  • Charlotte Elliott
  • Sarah Fuller
  • Nadine Mattini
  • Evie Sharman

Congratulations also to Nadine Mattini who achieved 16th place in the state in Ancient History, out of a cohort of more than 10,000 students.

We are delighted to have students nominated for selection by the Board of Studies in showcases of major works.  Congratulations to the following students and their teachers:

  • Design and Technology (Shape):  Isabella de Lorenzo, Sophia Musgrove,  Lucinda Pagett and Tiana Stouraitis ,
  • Visual Arts  (ArtExpress):  Edith Watt and Amy Solan
  • Music (Encore):  Mia Duggan

Almost half of our HSC candidates appeared in the Distinguished Achievers list, having achieved Band 6 (+90%) in one or more subjects.  In the vast majority of courses presented by the College, students achieved results significantly in excess of State averages.

While the College has not received all ATARS, we can confirm that our highest HSC ATAR exceeds 99.

The College is proud of Year 12 for their achievement in academia, sport, creative pursuits and community service.

Further updates will follow in early January, after the IB Diploma results are released on 4 January, 2017.
